Structured e-invoice data on a large monitor
Advisory & Compliance

The UAE is moving business invoicing onto a structured, Peppol-based network in which invoices are exchanged and reported through Accredited Service Providers. The rollout is phased, starting with larger businesses. We help you understand what changes, map your ERP data to the required format and fix the gaps before your go-live date.

E-invoicing applicability and timeline assessment
Gap analysis against the PINT AE data model
ERP and accounting software field mapping
Customer and supplier master data clean-up (TRNs, addresses)
VAT coding and tax category review
Accredited Service Provider shortlisting and selection support
Test invoice validation and exception handling
Process redesign for credit notes, self-billing and corrections
Staff training and post go-live monitoring

01

No last-minute rush

A clear roadmap well ahead of your phase’s deadline instead of a scramble at the end.

02

Clean data

Invoices that pass validation first time because master data and VAT codes are fixed at source.

03

Independent advice

As a readiness partner, not a provider, we help you compare Accredited Service Providers objectively.

04

Fewer VAT errors

The same clean-up that prepares you for e-invoicing also improves the accuracy of your VAT returns.

01How UAE e-invoicing works

The UAE model is based on the Peppol ‘five-corner’ framework. The seller’s Accredited Service Provider validates the invoice and sends it to the buyer’s provider, and tax data is reported to the Federal Tax Authority along the way. Instead of the FTA seeing your sales only when you file a VAT return, it receives invoice-level data much closer to real time.

Invoices must follow the PINT AE specification, a UAE-specific version of the international Peppol invoice standard. It defines mandatory fields such as TRNs, tax categories, line-level amounts and specific codes for different transaction types.

02Where businesses usually get stuck

The technology is rarely the hardest part. The common problems are in the data: customers with missing or wrong TRNs, products without the right VAT category, free-text addresses, and credit notes that are not linked to the original invoice.

Our readiness work starts with your actual invoices. We sample transactions, test them against the data model and give you a prioritised list of fixes for your systems, your master data and your billing team’s habits.

03Built on good bookkeeping

Because SMAS Venture is a bookkeeping-first firm, we look at e-invoicing from the ledger outwards. The same VAT coding, customer data and reconciliations that make e-invoices valid also make your VAT returns and Corporate Tax computations more reliable.

Once you are live, we can monitor rejected invoices and reconcile e-invoice data against your books each month as part of our accounting service.

Yes. The UAE is introducing mandatory e-invoicing for business-to-business and business-to-government transactions, rolled out in phases that start with larger businesses. We confirm which phase applies to you and the current deadlines when we assess your business.
